Is there a Lawyer in the Blog-house??

So, many of you remember the chronological posts about the transformation of the back lot behind our house from wetland/forest to tightly squeezed suburban brick homes. And some of you may even remember the flooded back yard pics.

Well, let me fill you in, briefly on what has been going on about all that. Shawn has been in communication with our old mayor, our new mayor and the City Engineer/planning board. A very three-sided conversation with Shawn: My property didn't flood before you filled in all that dirt and built a crummy drainage ditch, and now it floods every time we get a good rain; Mayor: Oh. I will definitely see what I can do about that; City Engineer: We designed and built an adequate system that drains off according to "specs". The water sitting in your yard is your problem, due to uncontrolled weed growth (which is on their side of the fence, constantly creeping into our yard, including poison ivy) and the way our own property is situated (there is a small ditch along both sides of our house. One is an easement, purposefully there for water drainage. The other is not an easement, meaning the city has no claim or responsibility to it, and just happens to be the "cause of our flooding issues".
So, we have made no changes to the level of land on our property since moving in. They have filled in the wetlands (where the water use to drain off to) with 5 feet of dirt. The flooding began as soon as they filled in their dirt. And it is our problem. The best part??? Our district representative came yesterday and his parting words were "Prove it".
So, I ask again... does anyone (local) know a lawyer? My husband might be interested in employing their services...
This ought to be an enjoyable event.
