Fun Run 2009

This is my favorite fund raiser of all time for the schools!! No chocolate, no cookie dough, no magazines, no gift wrap!!! Not that those things are horrible, but how much cookie dough does one need???

No, this fund raiser has the kids running for money for the school. It is quite the effort. And they poured their whole heart and soul into this run!

In the morning, when the sun was just starting to blare it's heat onto the crowd, Ranoah and her class ran before Zach's class came onto the field. It took her a few seconds to spot me in the group of parents their snapping pictures and volunteering to mark the T-shirts.

Lap #1!! They were off like a bolt of lightening! (We were all glad I remembered to put her hair up in ponytails to keep her cool!!)

By Lap #3 her face was already turning red... Like Mother like daughter. Her daddy was a runner (I am sure it is still in him somewhere, but he needs to dig a little deep to find it right now!!), but her mommy (yes, me) was the one in PE who always walked the mile because of breathing issues. Ranoah is stuck in between, but she pushed hard! 31 laps!! Way to go, Ranoah!!!

Soon after the 1st Graders went back to their classrooms the 3rd Graders appeared. Along with them was my Zachster!

That look of determination is awesome! He loves to be active. He pushes hard. Maybe with enough practice he can be a runner, too!!

During the cool down laps they had fun ways of encouraging the kids to take it easy and not wear themselves out. This train was a great one!!!

He had a great time, and loved being able to hang out with his friends at the same time. What a day!!!

Despite the kids being worn out from Friday's activities, our family went Saturday morning to join in on the Community Day of Service that they have here. Churches and schools from the area get together and clean up the place! The kids worked hard, and earned a fun trip to Sonic afterwards, along with a nice refreshing shower!!

What a great time we all had!! I love this time of year!!!
