Where was your hubby?

At midnight last night, Shawn left for his shift at work. The shuttle STS-120 mission is scheduled to launch today. He will be on console here in Huntsville, along with several other hard-working people. The astronauts are scheduled to launch at 11:38 am EST today. There are some mild complications, such as weather and ice on the liquid Hydrogen umbilical something-or-other, but they are still working on those, and hopefully my hubby won't have to repeat this schedule again tonight.
If it is not scrubbed due to these complications, Shawn will have to stay a while after the launch to see the successful advance into orbit, complete some reports, then on home to bed. If it is scrubbed, he gets to sit there even longer and watch the monitors as the tank is emptied of all of its fuel, make his reports, then on home for some sleep before repeating. Despite all the things that could happen, and sometimes do, Shawn is always excited for a mission. He has worked up to this position by working extremely hard, and loves the space program.

For munchies, he packed a 2-litre Dr Pepper, a large bag of Trail Mix, 2 cans of Pringles and a fresh pan of Blueberry Cinnamon Rolls, made by yours truly, covered in Cream Cheese Frosting (the cinnamon rolls, not the chips!).

Best wishes, STS-120. Safe mission.

I bet he is excited! A boy's dreams come true.

Sounds like a great treats he's got with him. Will he really drink a whole 2-liter?

Can you share you recipe for the cin rolls? They sound yummy!

Wow, what a small world! I'm glad you found us. Add us to your blog, so we can keep up. Glad you are doing good, having fun in Alabama? My sister lives there. Keep in touch!

Hope, pretty cool. I hope you take every chance you get to brag that your husband is a rocket scientist. I would.

The whole two liter! There's a benefit of not drinking caffeine all the time - it works when you need it. About every two hours I would pour a glass to help chase the sleep away. The last two hours is pure adrenaline.

To us the Space Program is very important. I know that to others, even close friends of mine, it is not, but to each their own. It excites me each time Shawn is on console. This time there were no errors in his department, and the Administrator was watching over everything. Points for hubby!!!
