Traditions Passed On

Ever since I can remember, every New Year's morning we would wake up to Mom simmering a can of Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk on the stove, and mixing up the batter for crepes! Why did she do this every New Year? Chilean Pancakes!! Yum!

Dad went on a mission to Santiago, Chile in 1960. He loved the people there. But one thing he brought back with him, along with the wonderful memories, was a desire for more of the great food! Fortunately he married my Mom... one of the best cooks anyone will ever meet! She learned how to make some of these delicious recipes. And it became tradition to make these stuffed crepes on New Year's morning. So, here we are, carrying on the tradition in our family, with an added touch...

First you take your freshly cooked crepe (browned site down)...

Second, you add your fruit filling. (I loved the job of mashing the bananas and adding a drizzle of Maple Syrup in them... This year, Zach added his own special touch of canned Pie Apples... YUMMMY!!)

Third, roll up your crepe.

Once you have rolled up your crepe, turn it over so that the seam is down on the plate.

Lastly, drizzle on some of that Yummy, sticky HOT condensed milk!!!

Then you ENJOY the First Breakfast of the New Year!!! We did...

I think we started this New Year off just right!!! Happy New Year to you all!!!
