Thankful Thursday

Sorry for the late post. I know it is still Thursday, but I actually wanted to get this done this morning. So, at least for me, it is late.

The narrow roads wind endlessly,
with branches of fall leaves forming beautiful canopies.
Although the sky seems dark, grey and pouring tears upon me,
I know there is an end in sight and then come the blessings.

There are little treasures that are all around,
and come in so very many shapes and forms.
The local chat is all about the types of cars one may have,
the brand of clothes, the size of house and the location of their land.

It is not at all bad or wrong that we enjoy the things we earn,
it is our right when we have worked so hard based on the things we learn.
But where does that right turn into pride---
When we think of nothing else?

When we consider none other than our very own,
becoming stuffed with our own things.
The others in this world look small,
because we are so sure they do not know the pleasure of owning so much.

They do not know what it is like to drink from the finest crystal,
eat the most delectable foods, or drive in luxury vehicles.
Is that really what makes us so much better than them,
because they don't own what money can buy?

Through the eyes of some, that may in deed be the case.
Through the eyes of another.... His decision is not based.
It is not based on things we drive or touch or taste,
or on things of which we spend money on in haste.

The things we say, the services done,
In charity our acts are truly performed.
Our kind words we share with those in need,
may not be tangible and are unseen.

They may not be heard or seen by everyone around,
or seem important at the time.
But He is always watching us and hearing all we say,
even when we whisper in an almost silent way.

He Loves us and He cares for us,
He always has and always will.
Despite the cars we drive, the clothes we wear,
even the houses we own.

So when you happen to find yourself moving along in any way,
as you pass under the leafy canopy and the sky of grey;
Remember the things that matter most, even though they may not always seem that grand.
He blesses us each and every day, and in our lives he always has a hand.

This is beautiful--did you write it? If so you have a gift girl! :) Pride is like a germ...once infected you may not see it, but will experience the symptoms and others can start to see it too. It's good to remember what is really important! :)
